Music Monday – Happy Anniversary Sarah & Slayden!

It’s been a year since Sarah and Slayden’s St. Simon’s Island wedding and what an amazing wedding it was, made even more special by the fact that Sarah is a former A Big To Do Event intern!

Today’s Music Monday song was played during Sarah and Slayden’s ceremony. It still makes my eyes well up as I remember the love in that room as Sarah walked into the church. They used this song as a solo during the ceremony. How sweet is this?

We were so happy to be able to help create the first day of Sarah and Slayden’s life together!

Thanks to Jason Pendley Photography for these gorgeous shots!

Music Monday: Real Wedding Songlist

We’re doing something a little different with Music Mondays now. If Music Monday happens around the time of a previous couple’s wedding anniversary, we will feature their wedding songlist.

Happy Anniversary, Tashawn and Jovanghn! To see how gorgeous their entire wedding was, check out their blog feature.

Processional for Grandmothers and Mothers:

Not going to lie – I love that the Groom and his men walked down the aisle to this song:

The Bridesmaids walked down the aisle and the Bride met her Groom to this song:

As you can see – a super fun song list!

Music Monday: Processional

I am a true sucker for this song. The lyrics make my eyes fill up with big, ole crocodile tears. That’s the “good housekeeping seal” of a perfect wedding song, right?

I think the processional music should be the instrumental version because it doesn’t make the song so much of the focus, it’s more of a hint of the song. The two of you know what it is.

You could also use the lyrics version as your first dance.

Music Monday: Honeymoon Drive Playlist

As a lot of you are headed back from the Labor Day holiday, I thought it only appropriate to start a portion of the Music Monday category dedicated to the Honeymoon Drive Playlist.

Whether you are driving a couple of hours away (my husband and I went to Charleston, SC – a five hour drive for us), or just to the airport, or are planning a cross country road trip, these are songs you might want to put on your playlist.

Music Monday: First Dance (old school style)

Alright, folks. It’s time to bring Music Monday back! And for this week, I thought we should go old school.

The cool thing about this song is that since it was released in 1970, the chances of it being your parent’s First Dance song is pretty high. That would be neat to have the same song.

Have a listen. What do you think?

Music Monday: Something Old, New, Borrowed and Blue

Today’s Music Monday is brought to you by our friends at Sam Hill Entertainment. We love working with them and pairing their bands with our couples.

Picture by Matt Yung Photography for Casen and Anthony’s wedding at
The Georgian Terrace in December 2011.

From Sam Hill Entertainment’s vantage point as the link between the couple and their wedding band, we put our eyes on a lot of special song requests. From the traditional to modern, tried-and-true to out of left field, we’ve seen them all — and our bands have learned and performed them.
A newly married couple’s first dance is a beautiful moment, one that everyone in attendance will remember. It can reflect a special meaning to the couple, or just be a classic love song. Here are some suggestions for first dance songs that are cool, aren’t cheesy…and are easy to dance to.
Something old: Van Morrison’sMoondance never disappoints. It’s simple, beautiful & timeless.
Something new: Jack Johnson’s “Better Together” is a laid back favorite.
Something borrowed: The President’s impromptu rendition of Al Green’s “Let’s Stay Together” has given this classic new life.
Something blue: Brad Paisley’s cover of Ryan Adams’ “When the Stars Go Blue” has always been a big hit as a first dance number for the Jangling Reinharts

Music Monday: First Dance

We love hearing from you for suggestions for Music Monday! Last week, one of our favorite DJ’s, Tom Russo with SE Events (Spectrum), suggested this for First Dance Music Monday.

Sweet lyrics. Fun. Not too slow. The perfect recipe for your first dance as a married couple!

What’s your First Dance?

Music Monday: First Dance Song

Happy Music Monday, good people! I woke up feeling quite nostalgic this morning and thought there would be no better First Dance song suggestion than this by the ultimate swooner.

One of our couples this coming weekend is using this song to speak to each other during their First Dance. How sweet.

A Song By Any Other Name…

Fun Fact Of The Day – I thought it was very appropriate for today’s Music Monday.

Did you know that the very popular wedding processional song, Clarke’s “Trumpet Voluntary” is officially titled “Prince of Denmark’s March”?

By any other name, it sounds just as sweet.
